How to teach your Doberman not to follow you into the bathroom?

One of the most common problems that Doberman owners face is their dog following them into the bathroom.

While some people may not mind, others may find it awkward or uncomfortable.

If you want to teach your Doberman not to follow you into the bathroom, here are some steps you can follow:

1. Teach your dog the “stay” command: Before you can expect your Doberman to stay outside the bathroom, you need to make sure they have a good grasp of the “stay” command. Practice this command in a distraction-free environment, and gradually increase the level of distraction as your dog gets better at it.

2. Practice with the bathroom door closed: Start by closing the bathroom door while you’re inside and asking your dog to stay outside. Reward your dog for staying outside, and gradually increase the amount of time you spend in the bathroom.

3. Use a visual barrier: If your Doberman is having trouble staying outside the bathroom, you can try using a visual barrier like a baby gate or a piece of cardboard to block their view.

4. Reward good behavior: Whenever your Doberman stays outside the bathroom without following you in, make sure to reward them with treats or praise. This will reinforce the behavior and make it more likely to happen in the future.

5. Be consistent: Consistency is key when it comes to training your Doberman. Make sure to practice these steps every time you go into the bathroom, and eventually, your dog should learn to stay outside without being told.

Remember, teaching your Doberman not to follow you into the bathroom takes time and patience.
With consistent training and positive reinforcement, you can help your dog learn this important boundary.
